Observer of the Sacred. Apprentice of the Creator. Seeker of Wisdom. Communicator of soul things. Laborer in the vineyard. Lover of goodness. Proprietor of a stubborn streak with an Irish flavor.
What is mine to do in this world? What can I actually control? How can I sow love where there is hatred? How can I bring hope where there is despair? How can I bring joy where there is sadness? How can I bring light where there is darkness?
These are questions that have long reverberated in my mind, heart, soul and prayers. Moments of inflection bring them to the surface and the wrestling intensifies.
Luminous Words to Live By is an idea conceived a few years ago and one that is still being formed. More and more it feels like a contemplative response to these questions of mine. It is a simple and humble offering for all souls, including my own, deeply longing for illumination on the way. I offer not my words, but the wisdom of our ancestors and contemporaries delivering faith, hope and love for such a time as this.
May they light our way.
(Snapshots are my own, taken with an antiquated iPhone camera, on daily walks through the Cathedral of Nature in nearby or faraway places.)
